The DPRK has become a key ammunition supplier for Russia during the war in Ukraine

Over the past few years, North Korea has significantly expanded its military capacity, including plants that produce shells and missiles. This expansion occurred against the backdrop of the Great War in Ukraine, during which the DPRK became an important ammunition supplier for Russia.

Moscow media, such as The Moscow Times, notes that after the supply of North Korean ammunition, Russia no longer faces the so -called "projectile famine", which was previously discussed in the context of insufficient number of ammunition for the army. According to Washington Post, from August 2023 to January 2024, North Korea could send about 1.6 million shells to Russia. According to the Ukrainian military, up to half of large -caliber ammunition used by the Russian military, are produced in the DPRK.

The main enterprises supplying shells and missiles to Russia are three large DPRK plants: plant # 125 in Pyongyang, Tessonian Machine -Building Plant and plant # 26 in Chagando.

Plant # 125, which is one of the largest ammunition in the country, has undergone significant expansion in recent years. The area of the production zone of this plant has increased almost 2.5 times, and the pictures for 2023-2025 show new buildings and transport containers in the plant. Such modernization can significantly increase the production of ammunition, in particular for the needs of Russia.

Another important enterprise is the Tesonian machine -building plant, known for the production of medium -range missiles, also passed through modernization and expansion. According to NK Pro, from November 2023 to August 2024 there was a significant update in the plant, including the expansion of underground shops and the construction of new facilities.

In addition, the Kumsng Tractor Plant, which is located in the city of Kangso, has also undergone a significant expansion. The area of its industrial zone has almost tripled, and the number of buildings increased to 16.

The expansion of the DPRK's production facilities allows it to continue supplying ammunition to Russia, which is an important part of Moscow's strategic support in Ukraine.
