The former first lady of France Carla Bruni is accused of corruption

The situation around the former Lady of France, Charles Bruni, became the object of considerable attention after court investigators questioned it as part of a criminal investigation. The accusations against it include "witnesses and fraud in an organized gang."

Karl Bruni, the former Lady of France and Supermodel, was accused of corruption. She is suspected of conspiracy in order to "bleach" the reputation of her husband, former President Nicolas Sarkozy, who is accused of receiving millions of cash from the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

According to Daily Mail, Karl Bruni was questioned by court investigators, and the accusations include "witnesses and fraud in an organized gang." These crimes are punished up to 10 years in prison, and in the case of aggravating circumstances, such as gang membership, the term of imprisonment may increase to 20 years.

Bruni is suspected of participating in the Operation Save Sarco campaign, which cost £ 4 million and was aimed at preventing sarcosis prison. In February 2024, the Court of Appeal of Paris confirmed the prosecution against Sarcosis, declaring him guilty of illegally financing the 2012 election campaign. He was awarded half a year of imprisonment and half a year of house arrest.

The AFP source reported that Bruni was "placed under judicial supervision and banned from contacting all the persons involved" except her husband. The conditions for the release of the pledge will act before the initiation of the criminal process.

Recall that on May 17, the Court of Appeal of Paris left the former President of France Nicolas Sarkozy in the case of trade.

On March 1, 2021, the Paris Court found Nicolas Sarkozy's Expature in Corruption and Trade in influence and condemned it to three years in prison, one year of them - a real term, and two more - conditional.

In September 2021, the former President of France was also found guilty of frauds related to the 2012 election campaign.
