The Rheinmetall company will supply tens of thousands of projectiles for Ukraine

RheinMetall from Germany has received a new order for the supply of tens of thousands of shells of different types for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2025. The cost of this order is more than 100 million euros, which is attached to previously concluded artillery ammunition agreements.

The new contract is a continuation of a series of agreements for the supply of artillery ammunition, which have previously been concluded with the Bundesver for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Germany. In July 2023, RheinMetall concluded a new framework agreement with the Bundesver in the artillery sector, which provides for the supply of hundreds of thousands of shells, blasting and metal charges.

According to an agreement calculated by 2029, the potential volume of orders from the Bundesver will be approximately 1.2 billion euros.

The Rheinmetall press service indicates that the need to replenish ammunition in Ukraine has led to significant contracts for artillery ammunition. Among the range of Rheinmetall shells are the DM121 fragmentation shell, the smoke/shadowing DM125 shell, the DM121 SMARTS Search Executive (together with Diehl Defense), as well as the universal 155-mmmal artillery Baelellian Baine.

According to the plans of the European Union, the provision of artillery shells to Ukraine is envisaged during the 12-month period. Currently, the EU has set about 300,000 shells from the promised one million, but there is an outrage that some shells may have to be purchased outside the European Union because of the possibility of delays in deliveries.
