The Kremlin commented on a memorandum with Ukraine

On Wednesday, May 21, the official representative of the Russian government Dmitry Peskov stated that working on a project of a memorandum with Ukraine is ongoing in a dynamic regime. According to him, the Russian side does not aim to delay the preparation of the document and counts on the continuation of dialogue with the Ukrainian side.

"No one is interested in delaying the process. The work is being done dynamically. We will inform you as far as possible," Peskov said during a briefing.

At the same time, he stressed that the bulk of the discussions are in non -public format. According to the spokesman, this is a conscious step, since the broad coverage of negotiations in the media can complicate the achievement of arrangements.

"It is clear that most of this work is conducted in discrete mode. It does not involve publicity. This is a standard practice for such processes," Peskov said.

At the moment, official Kyiv did not comment on the Russian side's statement, and it is unknown whether any formal negotiations or advice on preparing such a document really continue. In previous months, the Ukrainian leadership repeatedly emphasized that any negotiations are possible only if international law and the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine.
