The Kremlin responded to Trump's threats of sanctions

The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian side had seriously treated US President Donald Trump's threat to strict sanctions against Russia if a peace agreement with Ukraine is not reached within 50 days. According to him, Russia takes a detailed analysis of the statements in Washington.

“The US President's statement is very serious. Something in it is personally addressed to President Putin. We definitely need time to analyze in Washington. If and when President Putin considers it necessary, he will surely comment on. I would not like to run in advance, so let's wait for Putin if he will comment on it alone, ”Peskov emphasized at a briefing on Tuesday, July 15.

At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman criticized Kiev's response to Trump's statement and NATO countries. According to him, the decisions made in Washington, NATO and Brussels, the Ukrainian side perceives not as a call to peace, but as a signal for the continuation of the war.

Peskov also questioned the information that Trump allegedly urged President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky to increase his pressure not only on Moscow but also on St. Petersburg. He suggested that such messages could be fakes.

“This rhetoric has not only appeared. As a rule, it all turns out to be fakes, most often. Sometimes there are serious showers, including in those editions that we have previously considered very revered, ”Peskov added.

He assured that in Moscow allegedly awaited proposals from Kiev for negotiations, but did not provide specific details.
