Crisis at the border: Polish carriers make the situation worse by blocking checkpoints 24 hours a day - DPSU

Together with the increase in the number of trucks waiting at the border, Polish carriers are increasing the blocking of four checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. The spokesman of the State Border Service of Ukraine (SPSU) Andriy Demchenko said that, in particular, the Sheghini checkpoint, which was blocked since November 23, will be blocked around the clock from Monday, November 27.

On the morning of November 26, Polish border guards reported that approximately 3,500 trucks were waiting in line on the territory of Poland in the directions "Yagodyn-Dorogusk", "Krakowec-Korcheva", "Rava-Ruska-Hrebene", "Medyka-Shegyny". Most of all traffic piles up near the Sheghini and Rava-Ruska checkpoints.

According to Demchenko, the blocking takes place as a sign of protest, and Polish carriers have decided to expand their actions by blocking the checkpoint around the clock. This creates serious difficulties for the movement of trucks across the border, since these four directions are the main ones for vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tons to cross.

The situation may soon lead to a complete stoppage of truck traffic on these routes if the carriers continue to block. The DPSU calls for an immediate resolution of the conflict and the search for a compromise to prevent a humanitarian and economic crisis at the border.
