Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba met with the French Foreign Minister Stefan Sezhurne during his visit to Kiev.
Negotiations concerned a number of important issues, including Ukraine's accession to the European Union, the development of air defense, and other aspects of international cooperation.
Key negotiation topics:
- Support for EU accession: Dmitry Kuleba expressed his gratitude for France's comprehensive support on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. Both ministers discussed the steps that need to be taken to implement this strategic direction, including official screening, approval of the negotiation frame and conducting an intergovernmental conference.
- Air Defense: The parties discussed the supply of systems and missiles to increase Ukraine's air defense. In particular, aspects of the supply of drones to protect the Ukrainian sky were considered.
- NATO interaction: Ministers coordinated steps towards the NATO Washington Summit planned between January and the end of June. A plan of action is considered to achieve specific results on Ukraine's membership in the Alliance.
- The formula of peace and attracting new countries: Ministers have agreed to expand the formula of President of Zelensky, attracting Africa, Asia and Latin America. This is defined as a key direction of cooperation.
- Defense cooperation and moratorium on Russian assets: ministers have agreed on measures to create favorable conditions for interaction between defense companies at the EU level. The issue of frozen assets of Russia and the possibility of creating a special tribunal to punish the terrorist country was also raised.
The ministers emphasized the readiness to look for balanced decisions on the legal aspects of these initiatives. The head of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the support of the establishment of the Ukrainian Fund in the EU with a volume of 50 billion euros.
