China has called on the European Union to cooperate closer to the confrontation of trading pressure, which, according to Beijing, is done by US Presidential Administration Donald Trump. Such a statement was made by the Chairman of the China Si Jinping during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez, the Xinhua State Agency reported.
Sanchez became the first European leader to visit China after the United States announced a new stage of trade confrontation against a number of countries, including China and EU Member States.
Xi Jinping noted that there will be no winners in the tariff war, and to go against general rules means self -isolation. He emphasized the need for joint actions of China and Europe to protect international trade order, support economic globalization and preserve multilateral standards.
The Chinese leader stressed that both parties should advocate international obligations and jointly with any forms of trade, which will not only protect their economic interests, but also promote the stability of the world economy.
According to him, the trade between China and the European Union is now more than a third of the total volume of world trade. This indicates the deep interdependence of the parties and the importance of maintaining a close economic partnership.
Xi Jinping also stated that China and the EU remain supporters of the open economy and free trade, based on international rules and mutual respect. He called on Europe to participate more actively in shaping a fair trade -based order based on cooperation rather than confrontation.
