China and Kazakhstan launch a railway that will bypass Russia

China and Kazakhstan have officially launched a new railway route that will allow you to deliver goods to Europe without passing through Russia. This project is part of China's strategy for the development of alternative transport routes that connect Asia countries with Europe through Central Asia.

The railway route was implemented in partnership with China Railway Container Transport (CRCT) and passes through Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Iran and Turkey. The first container train departed from the Chinese city of Chenda and heads to the Polish Lodz. The expected time in the path is about 40 days.

The project will promote uninterrupted delivery of cargo and strengthen the economic ties between Central Asia and Europe. The Kazakh Railway has already informed that the new route will significantly reduce the delivery time of goods, providing an effective transportation between countries.

China also develops two more large railway projects through Central Asia. The first of these is the Transcaspian International Transport Route (TMTM), which was agreed in 2023 and will pass through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, the Azerbaijan and Georgia. The second project involves the construction of the railway through Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, connecting the Caspian Sea with Turkey and the European Union.

These initiatives are part of the ambitious Chinese International Transport Infrastructure Development Strategy, including Belt and Way, and aimed at facilitating trade relations between Asia and Europe, minimizing the dependence on transit through Russia.
