China put into operation the largest hydroelectric power plant in the world

On December 31, in the city of Chenda, the province of Hebey in northern China was officially commissioned by a hydraulic power plant (HPP) Fenin. According to Sinhua, it is the largest such object in the world, which is managed by the China National State Grid operator.

The installed capacity of the station is 3.6 million kW, which is significantly higher than indicators, for example, the Ukrainian Dniester HPP with a capacity of about 1.3 million kW. Fenin will be able to produce 6.61 billion kWh of electricity annually.

Since the launch of the first stage of the power units in 2021, the station has already produced 8.62 billion kWh of electricity. Due to its scale and efficiency, Fennine will significantly reduce coal consumption: savings will be 480.8 thousand tons of conditional fuel every year. In addition, carbon dioxide emissions are expected to be reduced by 1.2 million tonnes each year.

Fenin plays an important role in the development of China's green energy, contributing to the stability of the power system and reducing dependence on traditional energy sources.
