Kyiv requires a clear position from Russia before the new round of negotiations

Ukraine remains open to the diplomatic settlement of the war with Russia, but insists that any future negotiations should be based on clear, balanced and responsible proposals. This was stated by the head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, commenting on Russia's intention to initiate a new round of negotiations.

According to Yermak, the Ukrainian authorities do not accept abstract or empty initiatives that do not contain specific obligations. An important element of any dialogue should be transparency, clarity of goals and real guarantees from the Russian Federation.

“Compromise is not equal to the surrender. Moscow offers a new round of negotiations. And we are ready for dialogue. However, we demand clarity. Clear, and most importantly, weighted proposals, ”Andrey Yermak emphasized.

He recalled that Ukraine already has a bitter experience of non -non -non -international agreements, such as the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, which was unable to ensure the security of the state after its abandonment of the nuclear arsenal. That is why the Ukrainian side is not ready to re -agree on formal or symbolic documents that are not subsequently executed.

"We will not buy a cat in a bag called a" memorandum. " We already had one. Enough. Diplomacy should be based on specifics, not empty promises, ”Yermak said.

In its position, the Ukrainian authorities emphasize that peace is the main goal, but it cannot be achieved by the cost of sovereignty, territorial integrity or basic principles of international law. That is why Kyiv does not recognize any ultimatum or conditions that contradict the national interests of the country.

In addition, Yermak noted that any new peaceful settlement should support international partners and be fixed in a clear legal form to avoid further manipulation or unilateral interpretations by the aggressor.
