Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a regular interview for the 60 Minut propaganda program made a number of statements about the possibility of peace talks with Ukraine. At the same time, the Kremlin's rhetoric remains far from real peaceful initiatives.
Lavrov noted that Russia has no illusions about the rapid achievement of peace in Ukraine and emphasized the need for "legally binding agreements". However, as the minister is clear, it is not about compensation for damages or paying for Ukraine.
The minister assured that Russia does not evade negotiations, but expects "serious, specific proposals". At the same time, he emphasized that the Kremlin's proposals are not conditions for the beginning of peaceful settlement, leaving the question of the real readiness of the Russian Federation for dialogue.
Not without traditional nuclear threats. Lavrov stated that Moscow remains in positions, according to which there were no winners in the nuclear war, but warned others not to "test the patience" of Russia. At the same time, he added that the Russian Federation allegedly never initiated discussions about the possibility of nuclear weapons, although this contrary to numerous statements and actions of the Kremlin during the war.
Lavrov's statements are once again showing double standards and manipulations in Russia's position on war and negotiations, which complicates any attempts of peaceful settlement.
