Doctors mistakenly sent the patient for cremation

An extraordinary case happened in India: 25-year-old Rohitash Kumar, who was declared dead after an epileptic seizure, was sent for cremation, although the man turned out to be alive. The incident occurred in the western state of Rajasthan, in the city of Jhunjhun, where doctors mistakenly certified the death of a patient without conducting a proper autopsy.

According to MedicalXpress, Kumar was hospitalized after suffering a severe epileptic seizure that left him with speech and hearing problems. The doctors, without conducting an autopsy, declared death and, ignoring the need to clarify the cause, sent his body to the morgue. Later, during the funeral ceremony, shortly before the cremation began, the man began to move, signaling that he was actually alive. Rohitash Kumar was then rushed back to the hospital, but unfortunately he died on November 22. This incident led to the suspension of three doctors responsible for the autopsy and paperwork. The police have launched an investigation into the cause of this error.

This case is yet another reminder of the importance of proper medical examination and adherence to standards in the process of determining the cause of death. In this case, the lack of a proper autopsy led to a serious error that nearly cost the man his life.
