London and Paris discuss the possibility of sending the military to Ukraine. They consider the possibility of placing their military in the conflict zone in Ukraine to monitor the ceasefire. According to Radio Liberty , the relevant discussions are currently ongoing at the level of governments of both countries, but not within NATO. The initiative aims to guarantee the implementation of agreements in the event of peace talks between Ukraine and Russia through the US.
A NATO high -ranking official, who wished to remain anonymous, reported that Paris and London are developing scripts to ensure Europe's participation in potential peace talks. Among the options considered:
- Placement of international troops on the demarcation line to monitor the ceasefire;
- Preparing for a possible change in the United States to support Ukraine after Donald Trump's election is president.
France and the United Kingdom seek to strengthen Ukraine's position in the international arena. They also consider sending instructors to train the Ukrainian military. Five French deputies appealed to the Defense Minister Sebastian Lecorton to expand the presence of military instructors in Ukraine.
According to European leaders, a willingness to act in advance will help reduce the risks of escalation and provide long -term support for Ukraine in terms of changes in world geopolitics.
The potential participation of the European military in the peacekeeping mission testifies to the desire of France and the United Kingdom to play a more active role in stabilizing the situation in Ukraine. At the same time, such actions should strengthen Europe's unity in support of Kiev, even with a possible reduction in US assistance.
