The head of the British defense department, John Hili, spoke against any assistance to Ukraine by London in the impression of goals in Russia. According to The Guardian, Hili stated that British weapons are being provided to Ukraine for protection, and although it does not interfere with its use against goals in Russia, Britain will not participate in this.
John Hili, the UK Minister of Defense, emphasized that the main purpose of giving weapons to Ukraine is to protect its sovereignty. In his interview with a British radio station, he stated: "We provide weapons to Ukraine to protect its sovereign country. And this does not prevent them from striking for purposes in Russia, but Ukrainians should be done. It must be done within the framework of international humanitarian law."
The new British Prime Minister Starmer noted that Ukraine will be able to use Storm Shadow missiles against goals in Russia, but only for "defense" purposes. The Prime Minister emphasized: "This is a defense missile, but to decide how to use them for these defense purposes."
On Friday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to the British Cabinet of Ministers to allow the use of Storm Shadow missiles against Russian purposes. He also urged ministers to help create a defense-industrial base of Europe, since leaders of the world are preparing to come to the possible coming to power of the second, more isolationist administration of Trump.
In response to Zelensky's appeal, Downing Street stated that British ministers "confirmed their commitment to support Ukraine on all fronts-from military and financial support to ensuring that Ukrainians who live here receive support and feel the main message of the United Kingdom that we are all the only ones around them."
