Oleksandr Lukashenko, who has been in power in Belarus since 1994, acknowledged that his stay was excessively delayed. At the same time, he appealed to the citizens to "suffer a little more" his leadership.
About it reports the Belarusian edition "Mirror".
“As I promised to you: in fact, the new generation is brought to power. But I stayed in power a little, but suffer, because there should be experienced people, ”Lukashenko said.
He also urged citizens to fulfill their duties honestly, noting that "everyone should deal with their questions so that the machine works without fail."
Despite the duration of his reign, Lukashenko stressed that he did not seek a successor. "I'm not looking for this successor," he said briefly, without explaining his position.
These statements were surprised among observers, because earlier he rarely acknowledged any doubts about the legitimacy or duration of his reign, especially in public.
It should be noted that the international community does not recognize the latest presidential elections in Belarus in 2020 as honest and transparent, and Lukashenko himself is often called "self -proclaimed president."
