In Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko signed a decree on pardon of 30 people convicted for participation in protests that took place after the 2020 disputed presidential elections. About it reports the Telegram-channel "Pool of the First", close to the press service of the Belarusian leader.
According to information, there are 14 women and 16 men, of whom some have serious illnesses. In addition, it is reported that there are pension age persons.
As it is noted, all the pardoned admitted their guilt, "they sincerely repented and committed to lead a law -abiding lifestyle."
Despite the pardon reports, human rights activists emphasize that this process is not voluntary. According to the Telegram channel of the Vyasna Human Rights Center, it has become known that political prisoners in Belarus have been forced to write a request for a pardon in the name of Lukashenko. This is happening in different institutions of penalties throughout the country.
In July, human rights activists from Vyasna informed that in the Novopolotsk colony # 1, representatives of the Minsk Prosecutor's Office visit the Novopolotsk colony, who force political prisoners to write such requests.
In early July, human rights activists reported the release of 18 political prisoners, including the former BPF Party Chairman Rigor Costusov, who had previously been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Subsequently, it became known about the liberation of other well -known activists, including Daria Losik, Tamara Ostreik, Svetlana Lupach, Kateryna Madiankova and Pauline Paavinka.
Against the backdrop of these events in Belarus, it is planned to strengthen criminal responsibility for violence, threats and insults towards the expansion of the country. The bill, which provides for imprisonment for a term of 3 to 8 years for appropriate actions, has already been sent to the National Assembly at the initiative of Lukashenko.
