On Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron said the recognition of the Palestinian state is no longer a taboo for Paris, emphasizing the possibility of making a unilateral decision in this matter. This is stated in the context where the efforts to resolve the conflict on the principle of two states were stuck because of resistance from Israel after Hamas attack.
"Our partners in the region, including Jordan, are working on it, and we are ready to support their efforts in Europe and the UN Security Council," Macron said during the visit of King Jordan Abdalli II to Paris.
In the world policy, nearly 140 countries have already made the recognition of the Palestinian state, but no large Western state or G7 member have joined this step.
France is expected to have a significant diplomatic effect and increase pressure on Israel. Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyaga rejected the idea of international recognition of the Palestinian state outside the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, arguing that it would encourage terrorism.
