Macron calls for the creation of a single defense plan of Europe

French President Emmanuel Macron called European countries to rapidly strategic decisions to strengthen Europe's defense. In his statement, he stressed the need to create a "massive defense plan" and the introduction of joint European financing for the purchase and production of weapons. According to Macron, such investments should be approved in the coming weeks.

Macron emphasized the importance of increasing the defense costs of France, because today the country spends only 2% of GDP on defense, which is much less than that of the leading countries, such as Poland. He recalled that by the end of the 1980s, France had spent much more, but after the fall of the Berlin wall, it reduced these costs.

The President also suggested that Europe will not be able to create a single army, but can develop common defense opportunities to reduce its dependence on the US. To finance such programs, Macron suggested that special savings products were introduced.
