The Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine (ICSC) has announced the introduction of 11 unique museum exhibits in the State Register of National Cultural Association. Among them are the masterpieces of prominent Ukrainian artists Kazimir Malevich and Elijah Repin.
The register included a picture of Elijah Repin "The Cossacks write a letter to the Turkish Sultan" , which is stored in the Kharkiv Art Museum. The artist has worked on this cloth for almost two decades, creating two options, exploring the lives of the Cossacks and their descendants.
Also in the list of national cultural heritage was the work of Kazimir Malevich "Suprematism-65" , which is an important example of his innovative style of suprematism, started in 1915.
In addition to Malevich and Repin's paintings, the registry included the Gospel of Aprkos in 1707 , published in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. This old man from the collection of the Kharkiv Historical Museum named after MF Sumtsov is a unique model of Ukrainian book art, which is characterized by large format, illustrations and printing skills.
The Ministry of Culture emphasizes that these artifacts are an integral part of Ukrainian history and art, which confirms their entry in the Register. This decision also enhances Ukraine's international recognition as a country with a rich cultural heritage.
Adding these works to the National Register is part of a greater movement of preservation of Ukrainian culture. For example, in 2024 at the Kiev auction Goldens the painting of Ivan Marchuk "The moon on the Dnieper" was sold for a record amount - $ 250 thousand. And the landscape of the same author "peace settled" here at Sotheby's auction in 2023 was sold for $ 81.4 thousand.
