In an interview for Corriere Della Sera, the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Serhiy Marchenko, stressed the critical need for assistance from international partners in the light of a significant difference between the military budgets of Ukraine and Russia. According to Marchenko, the budget for the military campaign of Ukraine for 2024 is $ 40.7 billion, while Russia allocates much more, namely $ 115 billion.
He stressed that more than half of the Ukrainian budget and about 21% of the country's GDP are directed to military expenditures. However, despite significant costs, Ukraine has encountered a sharp deficit in external funding. The required external assistance is estimated at $ 41 billion, with a non -turned need for next year is $ 29 billion.
Marchenko stressed that without the support of international partners, Ukraine would have to significantly reduce non -military expenditures. In the face of continuing conflict with Russia and the importance of success in this struggle, Ukraine hopes for support, especially from the United States.
