Today, on June 26, NATO announced the appointment of Mark Rutte as the new Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance.
According to an official announcement, Mark Rutte, who is currently the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, will begin his duties as NATO Secretary General on October 1, 2024, when Jens Stoltenberg's term ends.
In his speech during the second plenary session of the Peace Summit, Mark Rutte emphasized the continued support of Ukraine's partners, noting that the conflict in Eastern Europe is a global problem that requires joint efforts and condemnation of Russian aggression.
Jens Stoltenberg headed NATO for ten years and was distinguished by significant support for Ukraine's integration within the alliance and support in the war against Russian aggression.
