Italy's Prime Minister George Meloni stressed that the international community should make an effort to ensure a "fair and long peace in Ukraine." However, she said, this will only be possible if it is provided to Kiev by reliable security guarantees. About it reports ANSA after meeting her with Sweden Prime Minister Ulf Christerson.
Meloni emphasized that such guarantees should be directed not only to the protection of Ukraine, but also to the overall stability of the European continent. She stressed that without clear security mechanisms, there is a risk of repetition of aggression and new threats to Europe.
"It is necessary to lay the foundations for a fair and long peace in Ukraine, which will come only if Kiev is provided adequate security guarantees. This is important not only for Ukraine but also for European nations that are threatened and have the right to security," Melny said.
According to the Italian Prime Minister, security guarantees for Ukraine should be implemented within NATO. She emphasized that the Alliance is the most effective mechanism for providing peace that would not be temporary or fragile.
"NATO is the best structure to guarantee peace. Other solutions seem more complex and, frankly, less effective," she added.
