Less spam, more rest: a new feature in iPhone will filter calls

Apple has announced the emergence of a new feature in the future of iOS 26, which will allow iPhone users to effectively fight unwanted calls. It is about filtering incoming calls that will be available directly in the standard "Phone" application.

The function is already in the iOS 26 beta and will later become part of public testing. All users are expected to use it after the official release of the update in the fall of 2025.

The feature automatically intercepts calls from unknown numbers before they reach the user. The Subscriber is offered to introduce and briefly explain the reason for the call, and then the user decides to answer the call or send him to the voice mail. This means that all unwanted calls - spammers, marketers or strangers - will be held by the primary filter and will not be disturbed once again. To activate call filtration in iOS 26, you need to: open "Settings" → Select "Phone"; Go to the "Filtering Calls" section; Enable Incoming Incoming Call switch. After that, all calls from unfamiliar numbers will be processed automatically. The feature is not related to Apple Intelligence, so it will work even on older iPhone models that do not support AI. Currently, filtration works only with certain languages: English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), Kanton and Portuguese. Apple did not report when the function is localized for other languages, including Ukrainian. Interestingly, this feature has long been available for Android users, including Google Pixel smartphones. There it works as a call screen - the system answers you instead, clarifies the details, and you see the text of the conversation in real time. With the advent of filtration in iOS 26 Apple takes a big step towards the privacy and comfort of users. It also corresponds to the general trend of the company - to provide more control over personal data and interaction with the device.

iOS 26 is in the test stage. The final version of the update is expected to be presented in the fall of 2025 with the new iPhone.
