A representative of the Ministry of Defense of the People's Republic of China, Wu Qian, accused the newly elected president of Taiwan, Lai Tsing, of creating a threat of war between China and Taiwan with his declarations about the independence of the island. According to Wu Qian, these statements are a serious challenge to the principle of "one China" and the effort to achieve independence through military means and foreign support, pushing the Taiwanese into a dangerous situation of war.
"When the head of administration of Taiwan took office, he seriously challenged the principle of "one China", openly promoted the theory of "two Chinas", vainly trying to achieve independence with the help of military force and relying on external forces, pushing Taiwanese compatriots to a dangerous situation of war". Wu Qian said.
And he added that this is "playing with fire, and those who play with fire will certainly burn themselves."
It will be recalled that the other day Beijing started military exercises around Taiwan and declared that supporters of independence will be left with "pierced heads and spilled blood."
