German Minister Boris Pistorius expressed serious concern about the possibility of war in Europe. In an interview with ZDF, he called on German society to change his mentality to be ready for such a threat, especially in the context of events in the Middle East and in Ukraine.
Pistorius claims that Germany should take serious measures to ensure its safety. In his opinion, this includes both the strengthening of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) and the change in the public mentality. He urged German citizens to "get used to the idea that a threat of war can arise in Europe" and believes that the country should "become suitable for war." This raises the question of how German society is preparing for a potential military threat and what changes can occur in the future.
However, Pistorius also emphasized the importance of preventing further escalation of conflicts in the Middle East and in Ukraine. Germany, he said, will do everything possible to prevent the situation from worsening in these regions.
In addition, the Minister of Defense has rejected the accusation that the federal government is operating too slowly. He noted that a special fund was created to finance the Bundeswehr worth 100 billion euros and amended the structure of the Armed Forces. Pistorius also acknowledged that the Bundesver has been difficult for a long time and that not everything could be corrected in a short period.
Despite its difficulties, Minister Pistorius expressed confidence in the future of Germany. He stated that by the end of the decade the country would be in a completely different position and will be ready to resolve challenges and threats.
