British Foreign Minister visited Kyiv

UK Foreign Minister David Lemmy arrived in Kiev on an official visit. This was reported by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK Valery Zaluzhny in his Telegram channel on Wednesday, February 5.

“I congratulate the Secretary of State in the UK David Lemmy on Ukrainian soil. We will talk about further cooperation and joint projects to strengthen Ukraine's security, ”the diplomat said.

This is Lemmy's second visit to Ukraine after his appointment to the post of Foreign Minister in July 2024. During the trip, he will meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and other officials to discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation.

The UK government has reported that Lemmy will announce additional financial assistance to Ukraine of £ 55 million (about $ 68.7 million). Funds will be divided into several important areas:

  • £ 3m will continue to supply Ukrainian grain and other foodstuffs to Syria;
  • £ 17 million will be aimed at innovative energy projects;
  • £ 10 million will go to support Ukrainian business in the recovery process;
  • £ 25m will be used to support public services.

Since the beginning of a full -scale invasion of Russia, the United Kingdom has already assisted Ukraine totaling £ 977 million. London remains one of Kyiv's key allies and continues to actively support Ukraine both financially and in political dimensions.
