Mobilization 50+ who are called and where they are sent in May

In May 2025, mobilization continues in Ukraine, which also covers men over 50 years of age. However, the process of conscription of such conscripts has its own peculiarities related to age, health, availability of military experience and profession. A lawyer Roman Simutin told in a comment for UNIAN.

Thus, in accordance with the current legislation, all conscripts may be mobilized to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including those for more than 50 years - provided that there are no official grounds for delay or release from mobilization.

Most often, such persons are called if they have scarce military specialties. In particular, high demand is maintained for communications, logistics specialists, engineers, physicians, as well as specialists in prompt security and protection.

An important criterion for making a decision on mobilization is the conclusion of the Military Medical Commission (VLK). Persons with many chronic diseases that are classified according to the category B (limited to service) may not mobilize, especially if there are several.

For example, if one man has gout, hernia, heart problems and other diseases, even a formal lack of dismissal does not guarantee mobilization - such people are often sent from military units after arrival.

At the same time, if a person has only one or two categories B, he or she is likely to be mobilized.

The distribution depends on the availability of military experience and specialty. Those who have previously served are sent to units according to their experience - often these are rear or auxiliary parts. They can get into the infantry, but not to the assault units that perform the most dangerous tasks on the front line.

Persons without military experience or profession are first sent for basic training. After training - distributed to where there is the greatest need. In some cases, mobilized after 50 years can be directed not to combat units, but to work in the defense-industrial sector.
