The plague of fish in the Seim River was caused by emissions from a Russian sugar factory

The pollution of the water in the Seimas and the mass sea of fish resulted from emissions from the Russian sugar mill located in the city of Totkino. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal during a press conference.

"The Russian sugar mill dropped their impurities into the river, which led to significant water pollution in the Seimas," Shmigal said, commenting on the environmental situation.

The fish in the Seimas River became a alarming signal about the influence of organic pollutants coming from the production of the plant. According to the Prime Minister, although the pollution gradually dissolves and settles, its consequences have already been felt by residents of the surrounding regions.

Currently, Ukrainian ecologists and relevant control bodies are tracking the situation with river pollution. Schmigal assured that there were no threats to the life and health of people, as well as for water intakes in Chernihiv on the River Desna and on the Dnieper in Kiev. According to the prime minister, measures from the aeration of water, in particular on the gums in the crossing area, have already produced positive results, increasing the level of oxygen in the water.

It should be noted that the situation with the state of the Desna River within Chernihiv improved on September 10, which gives reason to hope for the gradual restoration of the region's ecosystem after contamination.
