Winter in Ukraine can be difficult due to constant firing of energy objects, which will lead to a significant shortage of electricity. The People's Deputy and Member of the Committee on Energy and Housing Inna Sovsun told about it in an interview with News.Live. According to her, the eastern regions of the country will suffer most.
Sovsun noted that the largest proportion of the destroyed generation is in the east of Ukraine.
“Two large power plants are located in the west, and our task is to transfer electricity to the east. But if the transmission systems are destroyed, there may be a situation where there is a generation, and there is no opportunity to transfer electricity, for example, to Kharkiv, ”the deputy explained.
Light problems are also observed in the Zaporozhye region, where constant blows to power facilities complicate the situation. According to Sovsun, “the minimum decisions that local authorities can make - to put turbines - could provide a power of critical infrastructure. This is especially important for Kharkiv, where the risks are too high. ”
The United Nations Mission to Monitor Human Rights in Ukraine (MMPLU) predicts that this winter Ukrainians may face electricity shutdowns from four to 18 hours a day. However, officials in the government assure that by the end of October and November, there will be no problems with energy supply, expressing the hope that this year's winter will take place without significant shutdowns, as last year.
