The MSC Group Group and the Mercy Ships International Charity have signed an agreement on the establishment of a new hospital vessel that will be intended for medical care and training in Africa.
According to information from the shipping group, this vessel will have residential cabins for nearly 600 crew members, medical staff and patients. The medical unit will occupy an area of 7 thousand square meters on two decks and will be equipped with six operating rooms, a fully functional laboratory and modern medical staff training centers.
This Mercy Ships floating hospital will be able to stay in the port for patients up to 10 months. Since 2011, MSC Group has provided logistical support and shipping to all Mercy Ships service ports. This process is involved in local shipping agencies and TIL terminals, as well as MSC and Medlog, providing logistics, warehouse and internal transportation in Africa.
