Men beat women at the Olympics in women's boxing

At the Summer Olympic Games in Paris 2024, a scandal broke out over the participation in boxing competitions of two athletes who have a Y-chromosome. This issue became the subject of hot discussions after Algerian Iman Helif and Taiwannko Lin Yu-Tin were admitted to the competitions, despite the failure of gender tests.

Algerian Iman Helif and Taiwanese athlete Lin Yu-Tin were admitted to boxing competitions at the Olympics, despite the fact that they failed two gender tests at the World Cup. The study then showed that in chelif and yu-tin there are both X and Y-chromosomes, which usually occur only in men.

After that, the International Boxing Association (IBA) stated that Helif and Yu-Tin have "competitive advantages over other athletes." However, the Olympic Games have other rules - so the boxer was admitted to the competition.

Helif won the first battle very quickly: her rival - Italian Angela Karini - surrendered only 46 seconds after the start of the match. After that, many criticized the participation of chelif in competitions.

Today, Iman Helif will meet with Hungarian boxer Anna Luka Hamori.

On Instagram, the latter shared a story in which her rival is depicted in the image of a muscular beast with horns.

"If she or he is a man, it will be a greater victory for me if I win," Anna Luka Hamori wrote.

At the same time, she declared that she was not concerned about the gender of the rival, and noted that she should concentrate on preparing for battle. Hamori added that she was not going to give up, as Karini did.

"In my sports club at home - only men and teammates. There is nothing new for me," Hamori said.
