The event has already resigned with the need for negotiations with Russia - it remains to persuade Poles and Balts, says American expert
Western European countries and the United States seem to be silently acknowledged the possibility of Kyiv's negotiations with Moscow and some form of territorial concessions, writes in the article for Politico a researcher at the Kwwinsey State Administration Institute of Responsible State Administration Artin Druchimonian. According to the expert, the offensive of Ukraine in 2023 clearly failed, and the fighting at best went to a dead end, and at worst - lead to the victory of Russia . And as the hope of the victory of Ukraine will continue to fade, the pressure in favor of the conclusion of peace through negotiation will inevitably increase.
However, any steps in the direction of the ceasefire will face a strong opposition from the Poles and the Balts, says the author of the article. In his opinion, these countries instinctively feel in the pursuit of negotiations with Russia a sign that the West is throwing them to his / her. Eastern European countries fear that Western European neighbors are simply not taking care of their safety.
At the same time, the sources claim that Poland and the Baltic countries are more concerned about strengthening the mechanisms of restraining opponents in Central and Eastern Europe than the return of all its occupied territories to Ukraine . In view of the above, the assurance of these countries in their own safety would help to weaken their opposition to compromise peace in Ukraine, says the author of the article.
