In Ukraine, another financial institution - the Bank of the portal - completed its activity. The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) withdrew a bank license from the bank and excluded its information from the State Register of Banks. This happened on March 26, 2025, when the financial institution was officially confirmed by the termination of banking.
The Bank of the portal became a tenth bank in Ukraine, which ceased its operations on its own initiative while maintaining a legal entity. Such decisions are made when the bank decides to stop its activity, but legally it continues to exist.
According to the National Bank, the Bank of the portal stopped work on February 20, 2025, after on September 16, 2024, its only shareholder made a decision to terminate banking. According to the latest data, as of February 1, 2025, the Bank had only 268 million hryvnias assets, which put it in the last place in terms of assets among all banks of Ukraine.
It should not be forgotten that this bank did not have the money of individuals and legal entities in its accounts, which may indicate a decrease in its financial stability in recent years.
According to the National Bank's official information, the number of banks in Ukraine has decreased to 60. This decision is part of the general trend in the country's financial market, where, through crisis, some banks continue to be closed. In particular, the problem of disadvantage banking is becoming more relevant in the conditions of economic instability.
At the same time, according to the NBU, such processes should not adversely affect the stability of the country's financial system. The closure of banks on its own initiative is a common practice when a financial institution decides to terminate its activities without violating depositors' rights.
The National Bank of Ukraine continues to monitor the market situation and guarantees the reliability and stability of the banking system to avoid negative consequences for the economy and citizens.
