The Higher Anti-Corruption Court (HCC) sentenced in absentia a People's Deputy accused of attempting to bribe the leadership of the Ministry of Reconstruction of Ukraine. As it became known, according to the circumstances of the case, we are talking about fugitive deputy Andrii Odarchenko. VAKS sentenced him to eight years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions for three years.
The court's decision is based on evidence collected by NABU detectives and SAP prosecutors, which point to an attempt to offer undue benefits to the leadership of the Ministry of Reconstruction. Odarchenko was found guilty under part four of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for responsibility for offering an illegal benefit to an official, especially in cases of organized criminal activity.
Currently, the verdict can be appealed within 30 days in the appellate instance.
