NATO is interested in analyzing Ukraine's unique experience in performing effective communications during a military conflict. According to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, during the constituent meeting of the Strategic Communications Committee of Ukraine - NATO, which took place in Brussels on March 18, this newly created committee is regarded as a tool for interaction in this direction.
Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy Taras Shevchenko told the participants about measures held in Ukraine in the field of information security and counteraction to Russian propaganda and misinformation. Particular attention was paid to communications with the population in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and the mechanisms of dissemination of reliable information among fellow citizens who are in the conflict zone.
The Ministry of Culture also states that the Allies have confirmed their readiness to support Ukraine in counteracting Russian propaganda and misinformation, as well as in maintaining the topic of support of Ukraine in focus of international attention.
Earlier it was reported that NATO defined its approaches to confrontation of misinformation. The document published on the Alliance's official website contains a clear definition of misinformation, explaining its threats and substantiating the attention that NATO pays to this phenomenon. The document also describes the measures that the Alliance takes to combat misinformation and provides recommendations for detecting and preventing the spread of misinformation.
