Scientists have discovered the source of the most distant radio signal from space

Astronomers revealed the secret of the strongest and most remote radio signal from a space that has ever registered. The source of this radio signal, known as FRB 2 022 0610A, was discovered in 2022, but only recently managed to confirm its origin. The signal arrived from the unexpected region of the universe.

The light of this energy explosion overcame a distance of 8 billion light years before it was recorded by earth radio telescopes. With the use of the space telescope, Hubble managed to determine that the signal arose in the galaxies, the existence of which reaches the period when the universe was about 5 billion years.

This group brings together 7 galaxies that interact with each other, forming one large galaxy. Such conditions can be a key factor in the occurrence of FRB 2 022 0610A. This discovery is striking because all the previous signals of this kind came from individual galaxies.

Scientists consider the fact that the FRB source is magnets - these are neutron stars with an extremely strong magnetic field. There are also hypotheses that the interaction between neutron stars and black holes can cause similar powerful energy explosions. The study of these phenomena will help scientists better understand the conditions of their occurrence and identify their true sources.
