Unsafe tea with jasmine was imported to Ukraine

Tea containing a dangerous substance - chlorpyrifos, which can pose a threat to human health, entered Ukraine. This was reported in the Head Office of the State Production and Consumer Service in Chernivtsi region.

According to information received through the rapid alert system for food and feed, residues of the pesticide chlorpyrifos were detected in tea with jasmine. This tea was exported from the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine by the manufacturer Kirchner Fischer & Co., Elmshorn, with the recipient at Svit chayu LLC, located at the address of st. 50 Gaidara, office 7, Kyiv.

Chlorpyrifos is a pesticide that can have serious consequences for human health. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, prenatal exposure to chlorpyrifos can lead to lower birth weight, lower intelligence, loss of working memory, impaired attention, and delayed motor development.

The public is advised to refrain from consuming tea containing jasmine until the situation is resolved and additional information is received from the relevant health and product quality control authorities. Victims of product misuse should seek immediate medical attention.
