The recent package of military aid to Ukraine was a unique case

The US Department of Defense explained that the announcement of the first security package of Ukraine for the amount of $ 300 million this year was a "unique case" against the background of blocking additional funding in Congress.

This was told by a spokeswoman for Pentagon Sabrina Singh during a briefing.

She answered the question of the possibility of providing such assistance to Ukraine with other agencies after these funds appeared in the Pentagon because of the savings of already concluded contracts for substitution of weapons transferred to Kiev.

"If there are any other contracts that are concluded within the tender, of course, we will let you know. This happens, but these were unique circumstances," Singh said.

According to her, Defense Minister Lloyd Austin and President Joe Biden believed that it was important to use these contracts to hand over an extraordinary assistance package to Ukraine under the Russian army's offensive.

At the same time, Singh did not confirm whether the US administration has decided to transfer the ATACMS long -range missiles to Ukraine, as reported by the media.

Earlier, the United States announced the transfer of a $ 300 million security package to Ukraine - the first in 2024 - against the background of blocking additional funding in the US Congress.

The US Congress Assistance Package has been stuck in the fall of last year because of the disputes of Democrats and Republicans to regulate their country's border with Mexico.

This two -party support package of Ukraine in February was approved by the US Senate, but it was blocked by the Speaker of the House of Republican Republican Mike Johnson.

He stated that the draft law on additional financing to Ukraine would have just been resolved with the financing of the federal government.
