Germany is preparing three billion Euro for Ukraine

The three main political forces of Germany-the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SDPN) and the Green Party-have agreed on a significant increase in defense and infrastructure costs. The probable future Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Friday, March 14, said he received support from the Green Party regarding his radical reform plan, Deutsche Welle reports.

In particular, it is about creating a special infrastructure fund of 500 billion euros and weakening the so -called "debt brake" for defense expenditures. This implies changes to the Basic Law of Germany. In addition to defense, the funds will be directed to cybersecurity, civilian security, civil defense and support of intelligence services.

Friedrich Merz noted that German Chancellor Olaf Soltz confirmed his willingness to allocate an additional three billion euros to support Ukraine in the event of a Parliament's reform package. The issue is expected to be discussed in the Bundestag on March 18.

As the proposed measures include changes to the Basic Law, at least two -thirds of the Bundestag and Bundesrat members are required to approve them.
