Germany is on the verge of early elections

Political instability in Germany has led to growing support for early parliamentary elections among citizens. According to a survey conducted by the ARD company, 53% of respondents are in favor of holding elections earlier than planned.

Considerable support for the idea of ​​early elections is expressed by voters of extreme parties, in particular the far-right "Alternative for Germany" (AdN) — 88%, and the new "Sara Wagenknecht Alliance" — 82%. Also, 60% of respondents in the east of Germany support the idea of ​​elections, while in the west this share is 52%.

Among the traditional political forces, the voters of the Christian Democratic Union have the highest support for early elections (68%). At the same time, supporters of ruling parties such as the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and the Greens are less inclined to change, with only 25% and 18% respectively supporting new elections.

A previous survey revealed that 85% of citizens are dissatisfied with the current government's performance. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has the highest ratings among politicians (55%), followed by CDU leader Friedrich Merz (30%) and Sarah Wagenknecht (24%). Chancellor Olaf Scholz received only 19% support, as did AdN co-leader Alice Weidel and Free Democrats leader Christian Lindner.
