German federal lands are taking unforeseen measures to force Ukrainian refugees who refuse military service to return home, Focus reports. These actions that had previously gone unnoticed have only recently caused a significant stir.
So far, their actions went unnoticed. The rest was only last week, when the Hessen government declared a request from ADN: "Hessen immigration authorities will not issue conscript men to Ukrainian men of any German documents replacing foreign passports. It would be appropriate for them to go to Ukraine to receive a passport there.
Now Ukrainian men have to go home and continue the documents there - they are likely to be taken to the army immediately. This has not happened so far because federal lands have been given a foreigner passport to Ukrainians. Now there is no more such opportunity - and not only in Hessen.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Justice of the Federal Land Baden-Württemberg Siegfried Lurek confirmed that the authorities in his land "no longer issue German travel documents to military men." The CDU politician himself considers intelligent that Ukrainians have been in military service. "There is no injustice regarding them - on the contrary, under Ukrainian law they are subject to persecution for desertion," Lurek explained. According to him, the government wants to continue to provide Ukraine with support, contributing to its ability to self -defense, and this includes "the urge of citizens to stand up for their country."
The Bavaria government also supports this approach. Interior Minister Joachim Kerrmann said: "I have repeatedly urged the federal government to make reasonable clarifications on the issue of military refugees from Ukraine. It is not only about whether to issue us documents instead of Ukrainian passports from the expired time, but also to do not weaken."
