Germany will no longer send heavy military equipment to Ukraine, reports Bild, citing sources in the German Ministry of Defense. This decision occurred against the background of growing skepticism about Ukraine's ability to launch a counteroffensive in the near future.
According to information, almost 300 Leopard 2 tanks remained in Germany, as well as a significant number of armored personnel carriers and howitzers. However, their delivery to Ukraine is no longer planned. Berlin expresses fears that with the current situation at the front, Ukraine will not be able to make significant progress in the fight against Russian aggression.
In addition, during the last visit of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi to Berlin, Chancellor Olaf Scholz did not give a positive answer to the request to allow the mission of strikes deep into Russia and to supply Taurus long-range missiles. Also, Scholz did not support the call to speed up Ukraine's admission to NATO. However, he did not give a categorical "no", which leaves open opportunities for further negotiations.
The news has caused concern among the Ukrainian military and analysts, who believe that Germany's support is important for Ukraine in the context of the ongoing conflict. The lack of heavy equipment can complicate the plans of Ukrainian forces in the fight against Russian troops.
