The Federal Ministry of Economy of Germany announced the allocation of another €65 million for the repair of the damaged energy infrastructure of Ukraine. Financing will be carried out through the Credit Institution for Reconstruction ( Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau ) within the framework of the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, created by the Energy Community.
German Economy Minister Robert Habeck emphasized that this support is extremely important because:
- Ukrainian energy infrastructure remains the main target of Russian airstrikes.
- Avoiding the collapse of the energy supply in the conditions of the third winter of the war is critically important for the population and economy of Ukraine.
The Energy Support Fund is used to finance the purchase of spare parts and equipment needed to restore the destroyed infrastructure.
As of the end of 2023, Germany has already paid more than €155 million to the fund. €360 million by the end of 2024 . Germany remains the largest donor to the fund, demonstrating consistent support for the restoration of Ukraine's energy system.
