Syria's new leadership has banned the forced wearing of hijabs and the persecution of journalists

The leadership of the Syrian armed opposition has adopted important changes in social policy, including forcibly forced wearing Hijab. The decree stipulates that Syria women have full freedom of choice in clothing, and any coercion or pressure in this matter is unacceptable.

"The main command categorically forbids women to dress in certain clothing or interfere with their right to choose clothes or make them claims about appearance," the official statement said.

This initiative is part of the broader changes aimed at ensuring fundamental rights and freedoms in regions under the control of opposition. The government also introduced new rules for the protection of media workers.

In particular, any forms of threats or persecution of journalists, including Syrian television workers, broadcasting agencies and social networks, are strictly forbidden.

"Any threats to these persons are forbidden," the command representatives emphasized.

For violators of new directives there is a sentence of up to one year of imprisonment.

These steps are aimed at creating a more democratic society and raising the level of freedom in regions controlled by the opposition. At the same time, critics note that the implementation of these changes may face numerous challenges due to a continuing conflict in Syria.
