Oleg Zhdanov spoke about the rocket attack on Poltava

The Russian strike with two ballistic missiles on the Institute of Communications in Poltava became another tragic reminder of serious security problems in the region. This was stated by military expert Oleg Zhdanov on the air of the "Kyiv24" TV channel, pointing to the possible neglect of security measures, which could lead to a tragedy.

Neglect of safety measures

Oleg Zhdanov noted that the incident in Poltava may be the result of non-compliance with safety rules, in particular in the organization of activities of military units. He emphasized that such strikes are often the result of troops gathering in large groups, which poses a high risk to the population. According to him, it is necessary to pay attention to the measures that should have been taken to minimize such risks.

Inadequacy of anti-missile defense systems

Zhdanov also emphasized that there is a catastrophic lack of anti-missile defense systems in Ukraine that could protect at least regional centers where a significant number of the population lives. The absence of such systems makes Ukrainian cities vulnerable to Russian missile attacks, which leads to numerous casualties among the civilian population.

Strike on Poltava on September 3: details of the tragedy

Russian forces attacked Poltava on September 3, firing two ballistic missiles at the school, killing 41 people and injuring more than 180. One of the buildings of the Institute of Communications was partially destroyed, many people were trapped under the rubble. According to Zhdanov, the short interval between the alarm and the arrival of the missiles did not leave people time to evacuate to bomb shelters.

Residential buildings are located near the impact site, where the shock wave knocked out windows and damaged facades. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, said that the police are going around the apartments in the houses, checking whether there are any victims.
