Well -known Ukrainian boxer, WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBO World Champion Alexander Usyk, was detained by Polish police at Krakow Airport on the evening of September 17. The athlete explained that the incident happened because of a misunderstanding. Usyk also expressed gratitude to Ukrainian diplomats for prompt support in resolving the situation.

According to Usik, misunderstanding with the police was the reason for his detention. The boxer assured that the incident has already been commissioned and the situation is settled due to the rapid assistance of Ukrainian diplomatic services. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also called Usika personally after midnight to make his safety and reported that the athlete had been released.
