On March 12, 2025, it became known about the release of the commander of the operational command "North" by Major General Dmitry Krasilnikov. According to the public, referring to Krasylnikov himself, the order for his release was signed on March 7. The Major General is currently in the reserve battalion.
Dmitry Krasilnikov claims that he was not explained the reasons for release. Answering the journalist's questions about the possible reasons, he said, "I guess, but I do not want to talk about it so far." The Major General emphasized that he sees no significant reasons for such a decision, referring to the situation in the Kur Region.
“My opinion is that there are no significant reasons for such (release - ed.). And the events in Kurshchyna ... Roughly speaking, I left Kurschyna back in November (2024 - ed.), ”He explained.
According to Krasilnikov, his successor as commander of OK "North" was appointed brigade General Alexei Shandar. Prior to that, the Shandar held the post of deputy commander of the landing troops of Ukraine.
This appointment has caused lively discussion among military experts and analysts, as General Shandar's experience in landing operations can play a significant role in further military action in the north direction.
There is currently no official explanation for the reasons for the release of Dmitry Krasilnikov. However, experts suggest that this may be due to some disadvantages in managing units or with personal or political motives.
Such personnel changes often indicate an attempt to improve the operational command in important strategic regions. The appointment of a new commander may indicate preparation for new operations or a change in approaches to the management of troops.
