Orban is going to Georgia on his own initiative - Politico

The future visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to Georgia should be regarded as his personal initiative. This was told by an unnamed European diplomat in a comment to Politico.

According to the interlocutor, the trip of the Hungarian Prime Minister to Georgia should only be understood as "another solo attempt by Orban", and, being the chairman of the Council, clearly does not act on behalf of the European Union before the outside world.

"If Orban would say that the EU represents it, it would be self -esteem and arrogant lies," the diplomat said.

Instead, a spokesman for the Hungarian government Zoltan Kovach assured that the visit was organized at the request of Georgia. Orbana will be accompanied by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto, Economy Minister Marton Nadi and Finance Minister Mikhali Varga.

This visit has caused a discussion about Orban's role in the international arena, especially in the context of his relationship with Georgia and the EU. Hungary's position in European policy continues to remain the subject of attention and analysis by European diplomats and political observers.
