The Pentagon temporarily stopped the supply of part of the weapon to Ukraine, including Patriot missiles, high -precision artillery ammunition and hellfire missiles. About it reports Politico with reference to three informed officials who are familiar with the situation.
According to sources, the decision to delay was made by the US Deputy Defense Minister for Political Issues Elbridge Kolby. He conducted a review of weapons stocks, after which it was decided to temporarily suspend some of the shipments - given that the level of available ammunition, including high -precision weapons, air defense systems and artillery shells, is reduced to a critical limit.
According to sources, although the decisions were made in early June, the actual implementation began only now - against the background of regular massive missile shelling of Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine by Russia.
The Pentagon did not formally commented on the situation. Instead, the White House emphasized that the decision was made in the interests of the US national security. Deputy Prescriber Anna Kelly said: "The US Armed Forces's power remains undeniable - just ask Iran."
Hellfire missiles, which are also delayed, are used from combat drones and aircraft, including F-16 fighters, which should start carrying out combat missions on the Ukrainian Front this summer. Suspension of their deliveries can complicate the fighting of the Armed Forces, especially in the conditions of active attack of Russian troops.
